အျပည္ျပည္ဆိုင္ရာ စစ္ပြဲကာကြယ္ဆန္႔က်င္သူမ်ားအဖြဲ႕အစည္း War Resisters’ International (WRI)ကေနၿပီး ရိုင္ဖယ္ေသနတ္ကို လက္ႏွစ္ဘက္ နဲ႔ ကိုင္ခ်ဳိးေနတဲ့ပံု အမွတ္အသားအျဖစ္ ၁၉၂၁ မွာ စတင္အသံုးျပဳခဲ့ပါတယ္။
၁၉၃၃ ခုႏွစ္မွာ ဥေရာပမွာ စစ္ပြဲေတြပ်ံ႕ႏွံ႔ကုန္ၿပီ၊ ေၾကာက္ရြံ႕ထိတ္လန္႔မႈေတြကလည္း အႏွံ႔အျပား ျပင္းထန္လာၾကၿပီ။ အမ်ဳိးသမီးတြဲဖက္အစည္းအရုံး(Women’s Co-operative Guild) ကေန ေပၚပီပန္းျဖဴမ်ား(White poppies) တံဆိပ္ကို ၿငိမ္းခ်မ္းေရးတံဆိပ္အျဖစ္ ပထမကမၻာစစ္မွာ ေသဆံုးခဲ့တဲ့ တပ္သားေတြကို ရည္ညႊန္းၿပီး အသံုးျပဳခဲ့တယ္။ မူလေပၚပီပန္းအနီေရာင္ေတြၾကားထဲမွာ ေပၚပီပန္း အျဖဴတစ္ပြင့္ပါ တံဆိပ္ပါ။ ေသြးစက္ေတြကင္းစင္တဲ့ ၿငိမ္းခ်မ္းတဲ့သေကၤတအျဖစ္ အျဖဴေရာင္ ေပၚပီပန္းပြင့္ကို အသံုးျပဳခဲ့ၾကတာပါ။ ၁၉၃၄ မွာ အသစ္ဖြဲ႕လိုက္တဲ့ ၿငိမ္းခ်မ္းေရးအထိမ္းအမွတ္ယူနီယံ(Peace Pledge Union- PPU) ဟာ စစ္ပြဲမီးေတြေတာက္ေလာင္ေနတဲ့အခ်ိန္ ၿငိမ္းခ်မ္းေရးသမိုင္းျဖစ္စဥ္ေတြထဲမွာ အႀကီးမားဆံုးေသာ ျဗိတိသွ်အဖြဲ႕အစည္းတစ္ခုျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ သူတို႔ကလည္း White Poppies တံဆိပ္ကိုအသံုးျပဳခဲ့ၾကတယ္။ အျဖဴေရာင္ေပၚပီပန္းေတြဟာ “ၿငိမ္းခ်မ္းေရးကိုသြားတဲ့အထိမ္းအမွတ္အျဖစ္ စစ္ပြဲေနာက္တစ္ခါျဖစ္မလာေတာ့ဘူး” ဆိုတာကို ျပခ်င္တဲ့ ပန္းေတြပါ။
ၿငိမ္းခ်မ္းေရးသေကၤတေနာက္တစ္ခုမွာ ရုရွပန္းခ်ီဆရာႀကီး နီကိုလပ္စ္ရိုအဲရစ္ခ်္(Nicholas Roerich) ရဲ႕ ေက်ာက္ေခတ္ရဲ႕ အေဆာင္ အစက္သံုးစက္ (အႏုပညာ၊ သိပၸံပညာ နဲ႔ ဘာသာတရား)ဆိုၿပီး အဲဒီသံုးခုပဲရွိတဲ့ စစ္ပြဲမရွိတဲ့ကမၻာအျဖစ္ ရည္ညႊန္းဖန္တီးခဲ့တဲ့ တံဆိပ္ပါ။
အခုအထိ လက္ရွိ ၿငိမ္းခ်မ္းေရးကိုယ္စားျပဳ တံဆိပ္ကိုေတာ့ ညဴကလီးယားဖ်က္သိမ္းေရး Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament အတြက္ ျဗိတိသွ်ပေရာ္ဖက္ရွင္နယ္ ဒီဇိုင္နာ၊ Artist ဂ်ာရဲလ္(ဒ္) ဟားဘာထ့္ ဟိုလ္တန္ Gerald Herbert Holtom က ၁၉၅၈ မွာ ေရးဆြဲေပးခဲ့တာပါ။ အဲဒီ ဒီဇိုင္း မူရင္းကို အဂၤလန္ႏိုင္ငံ Bradford က Peace Museum မွာ အခုထိ ျပသထားပါတယ္။
